Teaching Human-Centered Design to Engineers and Product Managers

The Context
Clay Christensen’s Jobs to be Done framework is often used at Bose to articulate the value our products bring to customers. But not everyone is equally well versed in what the Jobs to be Done framework is, or how to use it.
In order to bridge the gap in understanding, I designed an interactive 30-minute workshop to teach curious minds at Bose about the Jobs to be Done framework, and how to apply it in their own roles, whether as designers, engineers, marketers or product managers.

The Outcome
We ran 3 workshops with a total of about 50 participants. By a show of hands, many came in confused but curious about what “Jobs to be Done” is, and left feeling more comfortable applying it to designing new products at Bose.

The Deliverable
A deck that workshop facilitators can use to teach the Jobs to be Done framework.
